In a new report, broker Bernstein highlighted that this may be the time to focus on Ethereum (ETH), according to information from Coindesk, on February 19. According to the publication, the second-largest cryptocurrency on the market is “probably the only other digital asset likely to get spot ETF approval from the SEC.”

The company argued that there is currently approximately a 50% chance of an approval related to an Ethereum spot ETF product by the month of May. Furthermore, Bernstein considers the probability of approval within 1 year to be almost certain.

Ethereum ETF approval mid-2026, says TD Cowen

The potential approval of a spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) has been heavily speculated in the crypto community in recent days. Speculations took place after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved Bitcoin ETFs on January 10.

Recently, investment bank TD Cowen shed light on an estimated timeframe for the launch of an Ethereum ETF spot, according to information from The Block. According to the publication, the ETF is expected to be approved in the US between the end of 2025 or beginning of 2026. TD Cowen Washington Research Group issued a note on January 29.

“We do not expect the SEC in 2024 to approve an Ethereum ETF in sight,” he wrote. “This is a political decision. We believe there is no upside for SEC Chairman Gary Gensler approving a spot Ethereum ETF, given how upset progressive Democrats were about the agency’s approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF earlier this month.”

At the time of publication, the price of Ethereum was quoted at US$2,905.95, up 3.6% in the last 24 hours. Over the past seven days, the second-largest cryptocurrency has seen a 14.9% price increase.
