The Aptos blockchain platform, developed by former Facebook employees, has set a new record in the number of blockchain transactions.

On May 25, Aptos surpassed Solana by recording 115.4 million transactions in a single day, according to data from Aptoscan. This number far exceeds the 31.7 million transactions recorded by Solana in the same period, placing Aptos in the spotlight on the cryptocurrency scene.

The increase in transaction volume not only broke previous records, but also surpassed Sui Network’s record of 65 million transactions.

With a margin of over 50%, Aptos demonstrates growing adoption and strong momentum in the industry. Data from Aptoscan shows that the blockchain’s transactions per second (TPS) rate has reached an all-time high of 32,000, highlighting the platform’s scalability and robustness.

The recent burst of activity at Aptos can be attributed to the launch of the Tapos Cat game, an innovative tap-to-earn game that has quickly gained popularity.

On the first day on mainnet, Tapos Cat processed 10 million transactions, significantly contributing to the increase in activity on the platform.

The game allows users to earn $HEART tokens by “tickling” a virtual cat, encouraging multiple transactions. Additionally, the game offers a gas fee-free experience for the first 72 hours, encouraging players to participate at no additional cost.

Despite initial success, critics, including the CEO of Helius Labs, question the Tapos Cat’s long-term viability and practical usefulness. They argue that the game’s emphasis on click-and-buy interactions can artificially inflate metrics without actually meeting users’ needs.

However, Aptos supporters assert that Tapos Cat serves as a crucial engineering project, demonstrating the scalability and robustness of the Aptos network and paving the way for future developments.

In a strategic move, the Aptos Labs team recently introduced a group of global advisors, including David Lawee, former vice president of corporate development at Google.

Additionally, Aptos Labs collaborated with Atomrigs Lab to announce plans to launch T wallet, a Web3 wallet service, in partnership with South Korean telecommunications operator SK Telecom (SKT).

Meanwhile, Solana remains one of the fastest blockchains, processing 91 million transactions in a single day. On April 6, during the memecoin craze, Solana achieved a record daily average of 1,504 TPS.

This makes Solana 46x faster than Ethereum and over 5x faster than Polygon, which has the highest TPS among Ethereum scaling solutions. However, despite its speed, Solana only reached 1.6% of its theoretical maximum speed of 65,000 TPS.
