Ark Labs, an emerging innovation in the world of cryptocurrencies, has just been launched with the aim of revolutionizing the Bitcoin payments system. This new company was born from the team that developed the Bitcoin Layer 2 protocol, called Ark, and promises to create a more efficient and less expensive alternative than the already known Lightning Network.
On Tuesday, an email statement revealed that Ark Labs was designed to meet the growing demand for scalable and cost-effective bitcoin transactions. The company’s focus is on two main fronts: developing an open version of the Ark Protocol and offering services directly to users, with plans to launch its first product later this year.

Burak Kecli, creator of the Ark protocol, previously expressed his critical view on the Lightning Network, especially highlighting the challenges related to “input liquidity”. “The Lightning have a lot of problems. But number one for me is the inbound liquidity issue,” Keceli commented in an interview with CoinDesk. He illustrates the dilemma by comparing it to a payment system where you need to have money to be able to receive money, something he considers illogical.
Unlike the Lightning Network, which requires users to lock up capital to ensure liquidity, Ark proposes an innovative solution. Utilizes an off-chain transaction model that employs unspent virtual transaction outputs (VTXOs), allowing for one-way, exclusive payments without the need to pre-commit funds.
With the launch of Ark Labs, the team hopes to not only expand the capabilities of the Ark Protocol, but also continue to develop and enhance contributions to the Bitcoin ecosystem, challenging the status quo established by the Lightning Network. Ark stands out for offering continuous liquidity services, available 24 hours a day, for a fee.
