In a historic feat, the game Hamster Kombat, launched on Telegram, reached the milestone of 239 million users in just 81 days.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov celebrated the milestone in a post on his personal channel, which has 2.7 million followers. Durov highlighted the game’s rapid adoption and its significant role in the new era of digital interaction.

“Hamster Kombat has become the newest Internet phenomenon that everyone is talking about,” Durov announced enthusiastically.

He noted that it took the game just 73 days to reach 100 million monthly users. Every day, 4.5 million new users join Hamster Kombat, making it the fastest-growing digital service in the world.

What is Hamster Kombat?

Hamster Kombat is a tap-to-earn game in which players must perform certain tasks by “tapping” on their cell phone screen. In this way, players receive rewards for their interaction with the game.

Players start as a bald hamster who signs a contract to become the CEO of a cryptocurrency exchange. The core gameplay involves tapping the hamster to generate in-game currency, with a focus on purchasing upgrades to improve the efficiency and profitability of the exchange.

The game’s social elements allow players to earn additional coins by referring friends, solving daily ciphers tied to YouTube videos’ morse codes, and selecting specific daily upgrades that boost performance.

This combination of simple mechanics has supported a high level of player retention. Furthermore, it has facilitated a community-driven approach to gameplay. Durov has revealed plans for the game to issue its own token on the Telegram Open Network (TON).

“The Hamster team will soon issue its token on TON, introducing the benefits of blockchain to hundreds of millions of people,” he said.

While the exact date for the token’s launch has not yet been announced, the game’s roadmap indicates that the crucial infrastructure for in-game blockchain transactions has already been established. Since June 2024, players will be able to link TON wallets to their in-game accounts.
